’06 Yiwu Gratitude, 357g

Early spring production adhering to the wispy leaf, stone-pressed standards for which Yiwu is largely regarded.  Excellent clarity and texture.  Toffee, creamy vanilla taste and nose that progresses to the characteristic Yiwu apricot in later infusions.  Drying after effects, with an assertive attack that stands in marketed contrast to the broth.  This confident element carries over into the qi expression nearly instantaneously, grabbing one’s attention before enveloping the body in a shroud of sensation.  It’s fair to say that the qi effect is intensifying with time, penetrating to later infusions.  Stored in LA since April ’21, Gratitude has been transforming along a steady path of deepening character.  Seasonally, cream-toffee-roots-bourbon when its warm, whereas sassy spry apricot more up front when it’s cool.  The ’07 production is listed in the Puerh Yearbook. No date-stamp, reasonably assumed to be second batch. 30g sample.

Here’s what the wrapper reads:

Original juice, original flavour, original shengtai
Traditional processing, handmade production
Organic beverage for health and longevity
Natural fermentation, the older the better

Representative of of Zheng Silong’s electric wok processing, which produces consistent results.  Vanilla nose, tongue numbing, mouth cooling.  Ginseng vibe gives way to subtle celery and berry note.  The berry note lingers in aftertaste for a respectable spell.  Medium viscosity, beautiful clarity, steadily approaching qi.  Light sweetness that is more present in the berry huigan, which is excellent.  Consistent character from beginning to end.  Can be pushed without disastrous results.  This sophisticated Zen-class shengtai will catch those drawn by the feeling imparted.  Might express very light humid notes from storage States side.  Stored in Los Angeles since April ’21.  357g. 30g sample.
