Yiwu Gratitude, “mingqian” spring tea excels. In a market awash with supposed early spring Yiwu that taste nothing of spring, YG sings with gentle flowers. At 16yo in ’22, it’s not a brash floral, but rather an apricotty floral, evocative of (now I’m dating myself) Flintstones vitamins.
For a spring production, YG has decent durability, giving seven solid infusions at five seconds from my slow-pour zisha. It never bottoms out and by the 13th infusion of 16m, it’s still lightly sweet and pleasantly fruity. That last infusion also yielded a surprising throatiness. Each round is topped by a sour accent at the tail end of the swallow that makes the cheeks happy.
second batch. Stored in Los Angeles since April ’21. Original storage was warm and on the drier side, essentially perfect for those who appreciate the effects of aging without any hints of humidity. 357g.
